The Best Of The Best Pizza Challenge Terms and Conditions 2010
1. All pizzas entered must be financially viable as standard menu items. This includes, but is not limited to, elements such as topping type and volume.
2. All pizzas entered must be standard menu items. This may not include pizzas listed on a specials board or feature as a limited time offer.
3. All pizzas must be 11, 12 or 13 inch in diameter. Any competitor wanting to enter a pizza outside of these dimensions must apply to the Competition Event Manager in writing to gain approval prior to preliminary cook offs in relevant State.
4. An individual competitor will be limited to entering only one category. An individual competitor will be required to choose between either the Traditional or Gourmet categories.
5. Entries are limited to two individual competitors from each establishment. Should two individual competitors from the same establishment enter, entry is restricted to only one category Traditional/Gourmet per individual.
6. All competitors chosen for their respective State Final will be required to also compete in a Mystery Black Box competition. The Cheese & Smallgoods pizzas entered + the Mystery Black Box will decide the overall State Winner who will progress to the National Final.
7. A detailed recipe for each pizza entered must be provided to the Event Manager prior to the commencement of the State Final and no later. Information must include ingredients for dough, toppings, preparation, cooking instructions and current menu price.
8. Pizza Recipe ownership for competition pizzas resides with the Best of the Best Pizza Challenge and related competition sponsors, who may use the pizza recipe for promotional purposes in their absolute discretion without payment of any amount to the competitor.
9. For each of your competition pizzas entered, you must use at least one National Foods Product from the specified list provided.
10. All applicable milk/dairy/cheese products that feature in a competition recipe and are available from ‘National Foods’ will be supplied and it is a condition of entry that they be used by finalists. (Appendix A)
11. All applicable small goods/meat products that feature on a competition pizza and are available from ‘Primo Smallgoods’ will be supplied and it is a condition of entry that they be used by finalists. All applicable pizza sauce, antipasto, olives, pastes and oils that feature on a competition pizza and are available from ‘Sandhurst Fine Foods’ will be supplied and it is a condition of entry that they be used by finalists. 12. All competitors’ ingredients will be inspected upon arrival at the State and National Final. Any sponsors products from Appendices A or B brought into the competition by competitors will be taken and destroyed. Any like products to those supplied by sponsors that have not gained prior written approval for usage will also be taken and destroyed.
13. All competitors wanting to use a non-sponsor product instead of that provided by sponsors at the competition must apply in writing to the competition Event Manager prior to the State and National finals with a photo of the requested product + detailed evidence to show how the product differs from the provided sponsors products. The Event Manager will decide in their absolute discretion if the products can be used.
14. All other ingredients, including pizza dough are to be provided by the competitor.
15. Pizza bases must be made from fresh pizza dough. Those pizzas entered with pre made bases of any kind will be ineligible to enter.
16. The Best of the Best Pizza Challenge will provide basic preparation facilities i.e work bench and shelving. Onsite refrigeration storage, washing facilities and shared access to a commercial dough mixer will be provided at the competition venue.
17. All other equipment including but not limited to pizza pans, knives, rolling pins, cutting boards must be provided by the competitor.
18. Competitors must adhere to all local, State and National food and health requirements at all times. Food handling gloves and caps will be provided and must be worn by competitors at all times during preparation and cooking.
19. Competitors will be provided with a competition uniform before competing in the State and National finals. These must be worn at all times during the competition including but not limited to, interviews, media appearances and award ceremonies.
20. Competitors are to wear clean trousers, preferably chef pants or black pants and closed safety shoes for the competition in accordance with State and National health regulations. Denim jeans, shorts or three quarter pants will not be accepted.
21. No hand jewellery (excluding wedding bands) is to be worn during the competition.
22. Competitors are required discuss products, techniques and equipment used during the competition. Such discussions may be broadcast, recorded and published in the absolute discretion of National Foods without payment of any amount to the competitor.
23. Profanity, negative comparisons of sponsors and or products are not to made by any competitors during the competition including pre and post event. National Foods reserves the right in its absolute discretion to disqualify any competitor who engages in such actions during the competition including pre and post event.
24. Competitors are not representatives of National Foods or related sponsors and should not state or imply as such at any time during the competition including pre and post event.
25. Judges decisions are final and discussion/assessment may not be entered into. Requested assessment may be offered in the absolute discretion of National Foods.
26. All entries become the property of National Foods, who are also given the right to use finalists’ names, photos and details of entries in National Foods’ further and future promotions in its absolute discretion without payment of any amount to the competitor.
27. Competitors may not without National Foods’ prior written approval use reference to ‘National Foods’, ‘Best of the Best’, ‘Best of the Best Challenge’, ‘Best Of The Best Pizza Challenge’, ‘Australian Pizza Team’, ‘Australia’s Best Pizza’, the competition and/or related sponsors and logos during the competition including pre and post event for any ‘in house’ promotions in respect of the competitor or its business, including but not limited to signage, menus, banners, print media and other associated media releases.
28. All advertising and/or promotions in respect of the competitor or its business which makes any reference to ‘National Foods’, ‘Best of the Best’, ‘Best Of The Best Pizza Challenge’, ‘Australian Pizza Team’, ‘Australia’s Best Pizza’, the competition and/or related sponsors and logos must first be submitted to National Foods for approval prior to printing, publication or press release. National Foods may grant its approval in its absolute discretion and may grant its approval with or without conditions.
29. Competitors who have above mentioned advertising and/or promotion approval (Clauses 27 and 28) will be restricted to a time period agreed by National Foods for use of such materials and claims. Competitors must acknowledge ‘Best of the Best Pizza Challenge’ in any advertising and/or promotions under (Clauses 27 and 28)
30. Any international competition invitation entry and conditions will be decided solely by National Foods in its absolute discretion.
31. Subject to applicable law and/or regulations, National Foods reserves the right to make alterations to the State and National prize pool at any time during the competition.
32. National Foods reserves the right to book all travel and accommodation as required by a competitor and stated by the event manager.
33. Subject to applicable law and/or regulations, National Foods reserves the right to manage/alter the number of finalist positions in each State and National event.
34. All competitors who enter the competition must be operating from within a registered business premises as approved by relevant State and National health authorities. The business must be operating with an ABN.
35. Only one individual competitor will be announced as the current national winner of the competition. This individual will be selected from all those competing in the national final categories Traditional/Gourmet.
36. All prizes and awards will be presented by National Foods to the establishment within which the individual competitor is employed. Under no circumstances will National Foods enter into negotiations between the establishment and individual competitor in relation to the distribution of prizes and awards.
37. Subject to the announced National winner being unable under any circumstances to fulfil their contractual obligations, National Foods reserves the right to appoint a runner up to complete such obligations as specified within but not limited to the named contract.
38. National Foods reserves the right in its absolute discretion to disqualify any competitor who fails to adhere to the terms and conditions set out in this contract.
39. The Best of the Best Pizza Challenge is open to Independent Pizzeria businesses. Those companies operating as a franchised business will not be eligible for entry once store numbers exceed 5 stores nationally.
